Ronny Deila reacts to Celtic’s ‘deserved’ win against Dundee

Celtic returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Dundee away from home in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has told the club’s official Twitter page that his side deserved to win tonight’s Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee away from home.

The Bhoys returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Dundee in the Scottish top flight at Dens Park.

Gary Mackay-Steven put Celtic in the lead just past the half-hour mark, and Virgil van Dijk doubled the Hoops’ advantage with a brilliant free kick in the 63rd minute.

Although Jim McAlister halved the deficit for hosts Dundee in the 87th minute, Celtic held on for all three points.

The win at Dundee means that Celtic are now eight points clear at the top of the Premiership table with 79 points from 33 matches.

Deila was delighted with his side’s return to winning ways and is quoted as saying by Celtic’s Twitter page: “We were ready for the game and we won it. We deserved to win it.

“The fans made it almost better than playing at home and it was a very good night. We’re in a good position now. Five games and eight points and we just have to put pressure on Aberdeen.

“You always get a bit nervy at the end but they didn’t really have many chances. We won the game and that’s what counts.”

Celtic will be back in action in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, when they take on Dundee United away from home at Tannadice Park.
