Rafa Benitez will certainly not be taking charge of Sampdoria next season.

As reported by the London Evening Standard, Benitez has been overlooked by Sampdoria president Massimo Ferro because he is too fat.

The ‘Fat Spanish Waiter’ tag is one which followed Benitez around during his time with Liverpool, despite his impressive achievements with the Reds - winning the FA Cup and Champions League.

Currently in charge of Napoli, his contract expires at the end of this season, and whilst Sampdoria’s Sinisa Mihajlovic looks set to replace him, it is clear that Ferro does not want Benitez at his club.

The Spaniard could be heading for a job back in England, with his weight less likely to be an issue when asking for a job, but he must certainly hope that no chairman possess the same view as Ferro does at the Genoa-based club.

He has been linked with Manchester City, as per the same report, as well as with a sensational return to Anfield to replace Brendan Rodgers according to a different Standard report.

If Sampdoria cannot find anyone to manage the club into next season, Ferro may have to look towards Benitez anyway.

He might just have to hire a dietitian as well.
