Pochettino wants three transfers: Will these players be his summer recruits?

WH Lane

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wants to make additions in three positions at the club this summer.

The London Evening Standard has reported that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is looking to improve three key areas in the transfer market this summer.

The paper stats that the boss wants a new centre back, a new central midfielder and a new wide striker.

The report suggests that a player could be forced to make way across the backline, while Harry Kane will arguably be left to try and work on advancing his performances even further based on his dramatic impact this season.

Here are the three players he could possibly target.

The Centre Back

Goal.com reported that Tottenham are keen on Koln defender Kevin Wimmer along with local rivals Arsenal.

The 22-year-old is a talented player, but he won’t represent the high profile and expensive defender that some fans may be hoping the club pushes to sign.

He does have the typical characteristics that Pochettino seems to like such as youth and pace, but someone, most likely Younes Kaboul, would have to leave before he could arrive.

The Central Midfielder

The Daily Star has reported that Tottenham are one of the sides to have been tracking the progress of Morgan Schneiderlin alongside Arsenal this season.

Arsenal will most likely have the benefit of Champions League football to offer, but if they opt against him then the Frenchman may not be put off from joining a team in a similar position to the Saints.

Tottenham have a great chance of finishing higher than the Saints based on the current league table, though any deal is likely to reuire a big fee.

The Wide Striker

The Manchester Evening News has reported that Tottenham are still keen on signing Jay Rodriguez from Southampton.

It would be a gamble considering his recent history in relation to injuries and the fact he would be rusty, but he is talented and can be effective on either side of attack.

The sticking point? The MEN mentions a £20 million fee, which would be a big commitment from the club.

The London Evening Standard has also reported that a swap deal involving Aaron Lennon and Kevin Mirallas is on the cards.

The Everton winger is a versatile player, who has featured in a wide striker type of role at times this season.

He also offers an option on either side of midfield on the occasions where Pochettino will want to play with just Kane up front.
