Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has told BBC Sport that Mauricio Pochettino is a great manager, ahead of his side's game against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
Pochettino worked with Schneiderlin during his time at St. Mary's, and the Frenchman only had words of praise for his former boss.
Schneiderlin believes Pochettino did an excellent job during his time with the Saints, but insists that the return of the Argentine manager to the South Coast on Saturday should not be viewed as a defining moment in Southampton’s season.
"He's a great manager, we achieved great things last year but the page is turned," Schneiderlin said. "The view of the [Tottenham] match is that it is not going to define our season, because if you lose the game but win the next four, it means nothing."
Schneiderlin's admiration of Pochettino is good news for Tottenham fans, as it may help them in their pursuit to land him this summer.
Although Schneiderlin is likely to want Champions League football, his relationship with Pochettino was clearly a good one and that could put Spurs in a good position should they try and bring him to White Hart Lane.
Schneiderlin would be a great addition for Spurs, if they could land him, and his arrival would highlight their ambition to break into the top-four next season.
