Liverpool forward Divock Origi has been speaking to the club’s official website about the player who has helped him settle in – at least from afar.
The Belgian international signed for Liverpool from French side Lille for £10million last summer but he was loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for this campaign.
As a result, Reds fans are yet to see the talented front-man up close, but Origi has revealed that he is excited to turn out at Anfield for the first time.
Revealing that he has spoken to Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet about his new club, the 20-year-old said, “He told me before every game there is a fantastic atmosphere from the supporters and everybody at the club, which helps you to play even better.
“It makes me excited because it’s something I want to experience.”
He will not have to wait much longer, with Origi set to start his Liverpool journey this summer.
Pre-season will give him the chance to get used to his new teammates and then he will be hoping to make an impact on the pitch once the new campaign kicks off.
It is worth remembering that Origi is still young, so Liverpool fans should not expect too much too soon from him. But he has innate talent and should ultimately grow into a highly effective goal-scorer.
This season he has netted eight goals and set up an additional four in 39 appearances, and while that is not exactly worth writing home about he recently rediscovered his form in fine style, scoring all three goals in a 3-0 win against Rennes and then netting one and setting up another in a 3-1 victory over Reims.
It will be interesting to see how he develops at Anfield, a place he clearly cannot wait to turn out at.
