Liverpool supporters have debated the reasons the club has struggled so far this season.
Liverpool are a club in a more difficult position than some of their main rivals in the Premier League, as the fallout from the side’s defeat in the FA Cup semi-final at the hands of Aston Villa continues.
A report in the Liverpool Echo from yesterday suggested that Brendan Rodgers will be kept on beyond this season, despite an uphill battle for the club in terms of retaining their Champions League status over the rest of the campaign.
Rodgers splashed the cash generated partly by the sale of Luis Suarez last summer, as he looked to improve his squad for the higher number of fixtures facing the team, but several moves the club has made haven’t worked out.
Liverpool have also found themselves unfortunately struck down by injuries to key players, with Daniel Sturridge a perfect example, as he’s suffered issues ever since he picked up a thigh problem while away on England duty last year.
Here’s what Liverpool readers on the site have had to say about the club’s current difficulties and the reasons behind them.
Markus: FSG want a lapdog. Klopp wouldn't stand for their interfering. FSG are every bit as guilty as Rodgers for the crop of crap we bought.
RedBruce: we are in the hands of a lot of amateurs and whilst I am grateful for the fact that they saved Liverpool from the last bunch of amateurs its painful to watch a manager learning his trade and owners who appear to know very little about football
Kev: Rodgers will learn from this and so will the young players
Decstarr: LFC is not a finishing school for potentials. You should aspire to get the LFC job. Its not a job you should get at the start of your career. Managing Chelsea U21s, Reading and Swansea should not qualify you for the Anfield hotseat!
Kev: The problem with Liverpool is the pressure the players play under at such a big club. Like Man United David Moyes was a good manager but Louis Van Gaal has experience and that has made him tough. Rodgers either needed to come here when he was 50 or be given plenty of time
RedWill: Sturridge has been injured all season, we had European football this year ,many more cup games, even though Suarez missed first 10 games last year,! Never mind all that though hey, it was all Suarez obviously
No more southcoast geezers: brendon has baking from the yanks an had mony he spend on rubish an thats why we are wer we at now.nothn to do with fsg
