Liverpool media round-up: Ibe next to sign, Sturridge fitness programme

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Wednesday morning.

Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe is expected to follow in the footsteps of Jordan Henderson by signing a new contract at Anfield, according to the Independent.

The paper claims that Henderson's new deal, which was widely reported yesterday, will be announced tomorrow, and Ibe is expected to agree new terms before the end of the season.

Martin Skrtel is also likely to sign a new contract, but the report says Liverpool could make a decision on Raheem Sterling's long-term future if he fails to sign on the dotted line in the summer, rather than letting his contract run down.

It could be something of a U-turn after Brendan Rodgers said, in quotes reported by ESPNthat the 20-year-old won't be going anywhere in the summer after protracted negotiations over a new deal.

Daniel Sturridge is still a doubt for the trip to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League next weekend, according to the Daily Express, after missing the past two games - including the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Aston Villa - through a hip injury.

The Express reports that a tailored fitness programme for the 25-year-old, who has missed the majority of the season through several muscle injuries, will help him hit the ground running next season and get him back to the kind of form that saw him score 24 goals in all competitions last term.
