Report: Nottingham Forest to do battle for Shrewsbury Town youngster Josh Ginnelly

Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Sunderland and Stoke City are reportedly all aiming to sign Shrewsbury Town youngster Josh Ginnelly.

Nottingham Forest are competing with a number of Premier League sides for Shrewsbury Town youngster Josh Ginnelly, according to a report in the Daily Mail

Ginnelly has impressed in his brief showings at League Two level this season and there is a belief that he could become a star of the future.

As a result it seems that Forest are already making plans to try and bring him to the City Ground this summer, but doing so will not be straightforward.

The report suggests that the likes of Sunderland, Newcastle United and Stoke City are all also interested in Ginnelly, meaning that Dougie Freedman will have some convincing to do if he is to get the 18-year-old to sign for his side.

Ginnelly would be unlikely to go straight into Forest's first-team, but there would be hope that he could develop into a key player.

The Reds have already shown great confidence in young players since Freedman has taken charge and Ginnelly's addition would be further indication of that.

Ginnelly has made three appearances for League Two outfit Shrewsbury this campaign, helping Micky Mellon's side challenge for promotion.
