A defender strongly linked with Tottenham Hotspur has been speaking about his future.
Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Kevin Wimmer has been speaking to German radio station 1Live about speculation regarding his future.
In comments later published by Goal.com, the 22-year-old opened up about his proposed move to White Hart Lane, while also acknowledging that nothing is set in stone for now.
Wimmer recently told Austrian website Laola that negotiations were taking place regarding his current club and Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and now he has confirmed that all parties have agreed to focus on the remainder of this season before moving forward.
“Nothing is fixed,” Wimmer said. “Of course there is interest. But both teams have agreed that we should first concentrate on the league, and then we will see.”
While Tottenham have the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier and Federico Fazio on their books, it would be no surprise if they signed at least one new centre-back this summer.
Wimmer may be young, but he has already featured 69 times for the Bundesliga side and he has played all but one league match for Cologne this season, playing every single minute of the other 28 games.
This summer is likely to be a busy one for Tottenham, as they bid to build a side that can challenge for a top-four finish next season.
But for both Wimmer and Pochettino, it appears the focus for now is on the remaining games in this campaign.
