Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback has issued a relegation warning to his teammates in the Sunderland Echo.
The Magpies have lost their last six games and Colback believes that Newcastle need to start picking up victories otherwise they could face the drop.
The Tynesiders seem to have relaxed thinking that they were heading towards a mid-table spot, but Colback insists that the whole team still have work to do if they are to help Newcastle stay in the Premier League.
“It can soon tighten up. We’ve got to be careful," he said. “There are winnable games left for us, but they are all going to be tough. They’ll be competitive. We need it as quickly as possible so we can relax a bit more in games."
Newcastle have fallen into a relegation battle because of their form since John Carver took charge and they are starting to look vulnerable.
Performance levels are rapidly deteriorating and there appears to be a lack of discipline, desire and quality in their squad.
At the moment Newcastle are seven points clear of the drop zone, but with teams near the bottom of the league starting to find form they cannot feel safe.
It means that they would be well served to heed Colback's advice, with the Magpies likely to need one more win before they can feel assured of their top-flight status.
