Hutchison believes that there are four Newcastle players who are keen on leaving St James’ Park.

One would suspect that Newcastle’s squad will undergo a major overhaul before the start of next season, and former Sunderland and West Ham midfielder Hutchison has told the Chronicle that there are four players likely to be keen on moves away.

“I think almost every good player in that squad will want a move away from Newcastle now,” he said. “You can see it in the eyes of one or two of them, and I think of Moussa Sissoko and that crazy tackle at Liverpool when I say that.

“Sissoko came to Newcastle with the intention of putting himself in the shop window. And I think Tim Krul, Cheick Tiote, Papiss Cisse and a few others will all feel the same way.”

Sissoko is the player that many believe was set to leave Newcastle a few seasons ago, and it is a surprise that he has remained with the Magpies for so long despite his undoubted quality.

He is a player who does not deserve to be turning out for a Premier League side with fears of relegation, and a summer departure now looks very likely.

Krul, Tiote and Cisse are the other names mentioned, and they too are players who look to have been at Newcastle for much longer than many expected. Krul and Cisse are still performing admirably, but Tiote’s reputation has taken a massive dive, and it could be hard for the club to find someone willing to purchase him this summer.

Newcastle are a selling club, so it should be no surprise that they are always looking to make a profit on their own players when the opportunity arises.

However, this term it appears as if the club have suffered as many of the key players have been so absorbed with getting moves elsewhere that it has affected their form.

If only one or two players were worried about their futures, then the club could get by as they were. However, if it is the four key players that Hutchison names, it is undoubtedly playing a role in their slide down the Premier League table.
