Could a mini injury crisis lead Chelsea to turn to teenage striker Dominic Solanke this weekend?

With Diego Costa out injured, the Blues are also sweating on the fitness of back-ups Loic Remy and Didier Drogba.

PremierInjuries.com list Remy as having a calf injury, with manager Jose Mourinho telling SkySports the Frenchman is only rated just above a 50 per cent likelihood of featuring.

Mourinho also stated Costa only returns to training next week, while Chelsea are worried about the fitness of Drogba after the Ivorian picked up an ankle injury against Manchester United.

Next in line

If the trio fail to make it then fourth in line is England youth international Dominic Solanke.

With Patrick Bamford out on loan at Middlesbrough, Solanke has been elevated in the pecking order and he was on the bench against Manchester United at the weekend.

Solanke even made his Champions League debut with a brief appearance off the bench, and he is high on confidence after helping the Blues win this season's under-19 UEFA Youth League last week - with 12 goals in nine games.

He was even invited to train with England's senior squad last month during the international break.

Solanke has seven goals in 12 under-21 games this season and Chelsea may be left with little option but to throw him in and see whether he is ready to take his form to the big stage.

Mourinho may alternatively decide to play Eden Hazard in a central role up front, but for the English game it would be fantastic to see the Solanke handed the chance to lead the line in such an important Premier League clash so early in his career.
