Arsenal media round-up: Gunners back down over signing Schneiderlin

A round up of news stories this morning related to Arsenal.

The Daily Mirror claims Arsenal have backed off with their reported interest in Morgan Schneiderlin.

The paper claims that the Southampton star has been a key transfer target for the Gunners in the recent past.

However, the emergence of midfielder Francis Coquelin appears to have put the Gunners on the back foot in relation to a deal for the Saints player.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has been quoted by the Daily Mirror suggesting the Gunners have turned around their season.

Mertesacker has suggested that the turning point for the club was losing heavily at home to Monaco in the Champions League.

The club now sit well inside the Premier League’s top four and have secured a place in the FA Cup final.

“We were knocked out of the Champions League and that was a big blow for us but after that we responded and it is a great achievement,” he said.

The Metro has reported that Arsenal are in the process of making a bid for Dinamo Kiev star Aleksandar Dragovic.

The paper suggests he’s one of the most highly rated centre backs in Europe, with Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham all previously interested in him.

The Metro claims that Arsenal’s logic is sorting out a deal, which will go through when the summer transfer window opens.
