West Ham fans react on Twitter to Carlton Cole's performance against City

West Ham United lost 2-0 to Manchester City on Sunday but what did Hammers fans think of Carlton Cole's contribution?

West Ham United lost 2-0 to Manchester City on Sunday, but for a time it looked like being a lot worse for Sam Allardyce’s men.

The reigning Premier League champions were 2-0 up after 36 minutes, courtesy of an own-goal from James Collins and a strike from Sergio Aguero, but the Hammers held firm from then on.

It was too little too late, and questions continue to be asked about Allardyce’s future at the club and regarding the way West Ham have slipped so alarmingly after a wonderful start to the season.

One player who generated plenty of comments at the final whistle was forward Carlton Cole.

The 31-year-old was making his 21st appearance of the season, but despite causing City’s back-line some problems with his presence and style he could not add to the three goals he has managed so far this season.

After the match we took to Twitter to see what West Ham fans thought of Cole’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
