According to the Daily Mirror, Southampton are keen on signing Newcastle duo Tim Krul and Daryl Janmaat during this summer's transfer window.
The Saints suffered a surprise home defeat to Stoke City on Saturday, which has now put their hopes of finishing in the top six under real threat.
Regardless, manager Ronald Koeman will be keen to strengthen his squad this summer, especially with departures expected once again.
Right back Nathaniel Clyne is a target for Manchester United according to the Daily Mail, and if he does join the Red Devils, he will leave a big gap in the Saints defence.
It seems that Koeman is already lining up a replacement for Clyne, with the Daily Mirror suggesting that he wants to reunite with his former Feyenoord defender Janmaat, who is currently with Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
A rebuild at St. James' Park could be on the horizon, and that may make Janmaat available - but he isn't the only Dutchman Koeman is looking to lure from Tyneside.
Goalkeeper Tim Krul is also an alleged target for Koeman, with current Southampton shot stopper Fraser Forster out injured for up to a year with a knee injury.
It would be a surprise to see Southampton fork out big money for another goalkeeper when they know that Forster will return, but Koeman may well make moves to add to the Dutch contingent on the South Coast.
