Newcastle midfielder Jonas Gutierrez is reportedly set to leave the club this summer.
The Magpies lost yet again on Sunday with a 3-1 defeat against Tottenham, making it six defeats in a row under interim boss Carver.
A change is expected in the dugout this summer, but one player's future may have been sealed by a bust-up with Carver recently.
Midfielder Jonas Gutierrez is something of a fan favourite at St. James' Park, especially having returned from testicular cancer this season to roaring welcome from the Newcastle faithful.
Yet, the Argentine, who joined from Real Mallorca back in 2008, is out of contract this summer - and now looks set to leave on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail.
They report that Gutierrez was involved in a training ground row with boss Carver having been told he would be dropped from the side to face Newcastle.
That leaves Gutierrez edging ever closer to the St. James' Park exit door, and whilst a new manager may have different ideas, his prospects of a stay on Tyneside don't look great right now.
Fans will be disappointed with the way Gutierrez's time at Newcastle is ending, but at 31 he may be looking for a starting role elsewhere rather than being a bit-part player at Newcastle.
