Speaking to the Evening Times, Slovenian striker Vuckic has praised the skill of fellow Newcastle loanee Shane Ferguson, and has admitted that he is keen to see the left-back finally make an appearance for the Gers.
Vickie said: “He is very quick and very good technically. He can play left wing or left back and likes to go forward and deliver really good crosses.
“Now he is here and he will have to work hard but if he gets his chance I know he will show what kind of player he is. He had a big set-back with his knee so he could have been here earlier but now he is here and he can make a big impact.”
Vuckic has hit the ground running since his moved to Ibrox as one of five loanees from Newcastle in January, with his strike in the 3-1 victory over Dumbarton becoming his eighth goal in 14 games.
It is an impressive return for the 22-year-old, but none of his fellow Magpies have done nearly as well, with three yet to make an appearance for the Scottish Championship side.
Remi Streete is the only other loanee to make an appearance, although he was substituted off after just 44 minutes with injury in his first game and has not played since. Gael Bigirimana, Kevin Mbabu and Ferguson are all still waiting for their debuts, although the first two are unlikely to appear for McCall’s men.
With the season drawing to a close, it is Ferguson looking most probably to finally make an appearance, as he has returned to full fitness and has now joined up with McCall’s squad. There are only a few weeks left until the end of the campaign, but the left-back could yet prove vital to Rangers, and if he has a similar impact to Vuckic, the transfer would seem worth the hassle - and the Gers could be heading back to the top flight.
