Massimo Cellino told the Sun newspaper that he did not order Leeds United players to go on striker before the game against Charlton over the weekend, as six players were ruled out of the game through injury.
Several players were ruled out of taking part in the game last Friday, which left the club’s manager Neil Redfearn in a difficult position as the side departed for the South for their key Championship encounter.
Leeds are a club that have grown used to adversity in the recent past and one supporter looked to have a joke at the expense of the club’s current situation, with some memes which play Redfearn and his crop of talented youngsters off against Cellino and the club’s foreign arrivals.
Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the injured players who pulled out before the Charlton game, Neil Redfearn’s aim for the rest of the season remains the same.
He needs to find a way to turn around performances, secure results and put himself into a good position for a new contract. It’s unclear whether there is an intention to keep him in place, but wins won’t do his position any harm.
