Newcastle United attacker Siem de Jong has taken to social networking site Twitter to congratulate his youngster brother Luuk de Jong on winning the Eredivisie title with PSV this season.
Luuk played a key role for the Eindhoven-based outfit as they clinched the championship for the first time since 2008 at the weekend.
The 24-year-old striker scored 19 goals and created 54 chances in 29 Eredivisie appearances, while having a pass accuracy of 71% and a shot accuracy of 59%.
The Netherlands international played on loan at Newcastle from Borussia Monchengladbach for the second half of last season, but he failed to score a single goal in 12 Premier League appearances.
Following PSV’s Eredivisie triumph, elder brother Siem sent the following message, which when translated reads: “Congratulations to Luuk de Jong and PSV for the championship. They went even went to the locker room with their phones to take photos.”
Siem joined Newcastle from Dutch giants Ajax in the summer of 2014, but things in England have not gone according to plan so far.
The 26-year-old has not played a competitive game for Newcastle for the past eight months due to a thigh injury he picked up during training in September followed by a collapsed lung.
