Liverpool will end this season without a trophy after losing their FA Cup semi-final clash with Aston Villa 2-1.
Brendan Rodgers’ side were disappointing, with Villa deserved winners, but what did Liverpool fans think of Lazar Markovic’s performance?
The 21-year-old winger has taken time to settle at Anfield since arriving last summer from Benfica, but is it fair to criticise a player who has the innate talent but requires more patience from those eager to see a swift return for the £20million spent on him?
This season the Liverpool wide-man has made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist to date. But against Villa he was substituted at half-time, replaced by Mario Balotelli as Rodgers sought to change the game.
That move did not work, with Fabian Delph ultimately adding to Christian Benteke’s first-half equaliser after Philippe Coutinho had initially put Liverpool ahead.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought of Markovic’s performance and you can read a selectin of what we found below:
Markovic's morale must be at rock bottom. Gets hooked half time an awful lot for not doing an awful lot wrong. #LFC— David Holden (@Davey_Holden) April 19, 2015
Markovic has more to offer that Stevie during this game. Stevie has been awful. Not hating, but seeing it.— Darren (@adarrenbilivit) April 19, 2015
Markovic hasn't even been bad but we're not getting him involved, one of our best players if you can get it into his feet— liverpoolstuff (@liverpooIstuff) April 19, 2015

Markovic and Can a bit better, but these aren't the names you go for after a sensational season where you were a step away from the title.— Abdulla (@abual3bed1) April 19, 2015
