The prolific former striker had his say on Leeds' current situation.
Phillips was sat alongside former Leeds star Vinnie Jones during a television show and gave his view of the club's current situation.
And he believes Redfearn deserves no end of praising for sticking at things, despite the bizarre goings on at Leeds of late. Redfearn had to put up with his assistant manager Steve Thompson being suspended by the club - a decision yet to be explained weeks later.
This week, meanwhile, no less than six Leeds players declared themselves unfit for the club's Championship trip to Charlton Athletic. That presented Redfearn with another 'huge problem.'
Phillips told Goals on Sunday: “You have to give credit to Neil Redfearn and the job that he’s doing.
“He’s stuck at it. There was the infamous sacking of his assistant Steve Thompson that no one really knows what happened. Not even Redfearn knew and he’s his manager.
“He’s had to deal with a difficult situation and being on a coaching staff now to have five (Phillips was mistaken here, it was six) players come to them after training on a Friday and say I’m not fit for tomorrow’s game then there’s a huge problem."
There is absolutely no telling what will happen at Leeds this summer - with the exact same sentiment applying when it comes to Redfearn's future.
The 49-year-old has shown the Yorkshire club the utmost loyalty, with absolutely nothing of the sort being given to him in return. Whatever next on the Leeds agenda?
