Villa got the better of Liverpool yesterday to secure a 2-1 win, which gives them the chance to create history if they beat the Gunners at the end of next month.
Arsenal will definitely be the heavy favourites heading into the next match, but Cole feels his team have shown enough in their last two fixtures for them to be confident of a win.
“It’s a tough game and they’ve been brilliant – It’s going to be tough, no doubt, but it we play like we did against Liverpool and last week [1-0 win against Tottenham] then we’ll be all right,” said Cole.
Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood seems to thrive in situations where his team aren’t given much hope of securing a result.
He excels with the underdog tag attached to his team and it could definitely work in their favour for the final.
Arsenal will naturally look to work their way into Aston Villa’s half, gradually controlling the game through possession.
However, that could work for Villa who have the pace needed to take advantage of the greater space, which is created on the wide open pitch at Wembley.
Villa also have players who are superb in terms of their passing and can pick out a long range pass up to Christian Benteke quickly, who has the ability to hold play up as Villa move higher up the pitch.
The team also have the resilience which comes from their manager and a dogged and determined attitude, which means they are now a very difficult team for any side to beat.
