Former Liverpool boss Roy Evans has given his view on the club's FA Cup semi-final loss.

Evans, manager of the club between 1994 and 1998, travelled down to Wembley as a supporter to watch the clash with Aston Villa, and was not impressed with the result.

Responding to a fan who asked him via Twitter what he thought of the performance, Evans replied the team had 'no excuses'.

A win would have given Liverpool a huge lift over the last few weeks of the season, and provided momentum for them to go and overhaul a flagging Manchester City in the Premier League to finish in the top four.

As it is yet again Liverpool need to pick themselves up, and this may be one loss too far for the Reds to redeem themselves from this season.

Aston Villa on their part deserved the win, and it is devastating for Liverpool fans that the team underperformed and could not reach the final to give Steven Gerrard a chance to bow out with an FA Cup trophy before his MLS move.
