Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has admitted on social networking site Twitter that he was wrong about Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood.
Hamann was sceptical when Villa appointed Sherwood as their boss in mid-February, but he has now eaten his words.
Responding to one of his followers’ comments on Twitter following Villa’s FA Cup semi-final triumph over Liverpool on Sunday, the former Germany international hailed Sherwood’s achievements at Villa as “outstanding”.
I will happily take that back. What he's done at Villa has been nothing short of outstanding. https://t.co/JETloyyWdl— Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) April 19, 2015
Sherwood has done a truly remarkable job at Villa and deserves all the praise that he is currently receiving.
When the former Tottenham Hotspur boss came in at Villa Park, the Villans were struggling for results and confidence.
Villa are now in a good position to escape the drop from the Premier League and have also progressed to the final of the FA Cup.
The players have stepped up their game under Sherwood, and are playing with more confidence and determination.
It remains to be seen how Sherwood does at Villa in the long run, but as of now, the Englishman’s work should be hailed by one and all.
