The Magpies failed to return to winning ways in the Premier League as they went down 3-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park.
It was yet another disappointing performance from Newcastle, who had just 38% of the possession, took 11 shots of which only five were on target, and earned four corners over the course of the 90 minutes.
Following the defeat, 21-year-old forward Perez gave an insight into the mindset of the players.
“We are very sad, obviously,” the youngster told Newcastle’s official website. “There is a lot of sadness, but we have to keep going and overcome this situation.”
The defeat to Tottenham means that Newcastle have won just one of their last 10 games and are in real danger of suffering relegation from the Premier League at the end of the season.
John Carver’s side are currently 14th in the league table with 35 points from 33 matches, just seven points above the bottom three.
It is high time that Newcastle start to pick up points. While teams such as Hull City and Queens Park Rangers are struggling as well, the Magpies cannot afford to reply on results elsewhere going their way in the final weeks of the season.
