Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has told BT Sport that he has advised Fabian Delph to show his quality consistently.
England international Delph is one of the better players in the current Villa squad and is also the captain of the team.
The 25-year-old is a hard working and energetic player, and Sherwood has revealed that he wants him to show more quality instead of running around all the time.
“He is full of energy, and he has got more than that,” Sherwood told BT Sport. “I told him that he cannot be running around all the time.
"He has to show some quality which he possesses on a regular basis, and he has done that.”
Sherwood made the comments following Villa’s 2-1 win against Liverpool in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
The Villans truly deserved their win, and Delph was arguably the best player on the pitch.
Besides scoring Villa’s second and winning goal in the opening minutes of the second half, the former Leeds United star played a key role in the first and led by example in midfield.
Villa are still not entirely safe from relegation from the Premier League this season, and Delph will now have to maintain his performance level for the rest of the 2014-15 campaign.
