Arsenal media round-up: Debuchy makes an admission over his fitness

A round up of news stories this morning related to Arsenal.

Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has been quoted by BT Sport admitting he’s still not 100% fit.

The French defender featured in the FA Cup semi-final win over Reading, after recovering from surgery on a shoulder problem.

He’ll now be looking to play a key role for the club over the rest of the season across the side’s backline.

“Am I 100 per cent? No, I need to work hard again but I hope to be ready and 100 per cent soon,” he said.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been quoted by BT Sport suggesting his side need to show spirit as they look to hunt down Chelsea.

The Gunners secured a place in the FA Cup final for the second successive season, where they will take on Aston Villa.

However, focus now moves back to the Premier League and a big home game against Chelsea this weekend.

“I believe we have the spirit, which is encouraged by the results, so that is what we have to produce until the end,” said Wenger.

The Metro has reported that Arsenal are now leading the race to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli.

Juventus were thought to be in pole position to sign him this summer, but the paper claims talks with his brother have proven fruitless.

The paper claims he would cost just under £29 million, with Arsenal reportedly comfortable in terms of being able to afford the fee.
