A forgotten Leeds United player finally returned from injury this week.
It may have been Brian Montenegro who stole the headlines following his hat-trick for Leeds United’s under-21 side on Monday, but another player deserves plenty of recognition after finally returning from injury.
Aidy White started the match against Huddersfield and played for 45 minutes, returning from a foot injury he suffered during pre-season.
The 23-year-old’s injury record has robbed him of much of the last two seasons, but at a time when manager Neil Redfearn needs all the players he can get his hands on, White’s return could be timely.
He still has some way to go before a first-team return is viable, but he may yet break back into the side before the end of the current campaign.
White has featured 105 times for Leeds to date, and his versatility means he is a good option to have, either at full-back or on either wing, but he divides opinion among the club’s fans and it remains to be seen if he can live up to his considerable potential.
It is worth remembering that White is still young, and with a full pre-season under his belt, he could yet be a vital part of Leeds’ side in the campaigns ahead; provided of course that he is offered a new deal.
