Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell had arguably his best game on loan for Villarreal last night in La Liga against Cordoba.
He was unable to help his side pick up the three points, the scoreline ending 0-0, but it was not through a lack of effort on his part.
The 22-year-old came close to breaking the deadlock when he struck a thunderous effort against the crossbar, as he got closer to scoring his first goal for the club.
Campbell was sent on loan to Villarreal in January for the remainder of the season as part of the transfer deal which saw Gabriel Paulista leave the La Liga side for the Gunners.
His lack of goals was not through lack of trying against Cordoba. He had six shots in total, more than any player on the pitch, and registered three on target.
The Costa Rican international made two key passes, with his performance and number of goalscoring attempts worth highlighting considering he was playing on the right of midfield rather than as a central striker.
His lack of opportunities early in the season at Arsenal was a source of disappointment for fans who saw him impress at the World Cup, having made real progress on loan at Olympiakos last season.
A cursory glance at his lack of goals in Spain may suggest he may just not cut out to be a success at the Gunners long-term, but his display last night offered real hope with his talent coming back to the fore.
Here is a look at the reaction of Arsenal fans and neutrals to his display...
