Former Chilean goal scorer Ivan Zamorano has told reporters that Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is currently his country’s best player heading into the 2015 Copa America, Spanish publication AS reports.
In 28 league appearances at the Emirates stadium, Sanchez has recorded a remarkable 14 goals and eight assists and has helped his side reach next month’s FA Cup final.
Arturo Vidal and Claudio Bravo are also having fabulous seasons in Italy and Spain respectively, but in Zamorano’s mind the Gunners star heads to the Copa America as without doubt his nation’s best player.
“Vidal and Bravo are having extraordinary campaigns but Sanchez has earned a place at world class level for what he has done at Arsenal. He is unmatched,” the Chilean hero explained.
Player of the Year?
As we approach the PFA Player of the Year awards in the Premier League, Arsenal’s key player has every chance of claiming the top honour owing to his fabulous debut campaign in North London.
Aside from his goals and assists, the 26-year-old’s work ethic is unrivalled and his willingness to help his teammates and work for the team is inspirational.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane are the most likely to land the award, but Sanchez’s efforts should be recognised - at least as the Premier League’s best transfer this season.
