The Arsenal legend says he didn't believe in the Belgian star, but he's been proved wrong this season.
The Belgian has been in fine form throughout this season, proving to be Chelsea’s star man as they look destined to be Premier League champions come the end of the campaign.
While Chelsea may not have completely convinced in recent weeks, Hazard has remained consistent throughout, scoring the winner against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon to move his side closer to the title.
Now, despite his earlier worries, Henry says Hazard is showing everyone that he will be the one to lead his team to the triumph.
“I had my doubts, because sometimes he doesn’t take the game by the scruff of the neck,” Henry said on Sky Sports.
“You have to let people know that this is your team and this is your era and this is your time. Right now he wants the ball, he’s in the middle he doesn’t stay wide anymore. He’s telling everyone ‘hey, we’re going to win the league and if we do, I’m going to be the man.’"
The Arsenal legend also believes that it is Hazard’s desire to win his first ever title at Stamford Bridge that is causing him to perform at such a consistently high level.
Some believe that the forward’s change to playing in the middle, rather than spending all of his time on the touchline like a traditional winger means he is playing a more active role in games, and Henry is one of those who believes that theory.
“He wants the title, some of the players in that team have won the league already but he didn’t and you can see that,” he added.
“What he was doing before was being passive, waiting for the game to come to him. Now he wants to dictate the game and you can see it every single time.”
