Report: Crystal Palace target Arsenal 'keeper flop Emiliano Viviano

The Italian is currently playing for Sampdoria in Serie A.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni has done very little to suggest he should be replaced as the number one stopper at Selhurst Park in the summer, but according to a report in Italy they are doing just that.

Speroni is out of contract in the summer, but an extension option is in his deal and that is likely to be exercised.

However Tutto Mercato Web are reporting that Palace are looking at bringing in Sampdoria stopper Emiliano Viviano.

That name will of course be familiar to Arsenal fans.

The Italian stopper, who is on loan at Sampdoria from Palermo, signed for Arsenal on loan back in September 2013. The deal included a buying option but he never made an impact for the Gunners.

Viviano played a grand total of zero games in his one season at Arsenal and left the club in the summer to return to Italy.

His arrival would however be a shock. Not only do Palace have Speroni, but they also have an able deputy in Welsh number one goalie Wayne Hennessy.

So there is little need for the Eagles to swoop on this Arsenal flop.
