The Tottenham Hotspur icon and the 21-year-old forward exchanged messages on social media.
Thirty goals in a season. Some clubs don't even get that many.
So what an achievement it is for a 21-year-old striker by the name of Harry Kane - a man who was nowhere near a first-team regular before this season at Tottenham.
He wasn't even a first-team regular when the campaign began. Once he booked his place in Mauricio Pochettino's team with several fine performances, however, Kane never looked back.
And so he scored and he scored. Until he reached 30 for the season in all competitions (and he may yet net more).
It won him praise from several quarters after Kane scored his 30th at Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon - not least Tottenham icon Gary Lineker on Twitter.
Kane responded to the the former Spurs striker, thanking him for his kind words. But what did that get him? Only a target of at least five more from Lineker!
The 21-year-old has no doubt been Tottenham's biggest plus this season - perhaps many supporters' only highlight during a campaign that has faded into obscurity. Imagine what he'll be like with a full season under his belt!?
