Tottenham swept Newcastle aside this afternoon, winning 3-1 at St. James' Park.
Tottenham Hotspur kept their slim hopes of a top four finish alive with a vital 3-1 win over Newcastle United this afternoon.
Spurs entered the game coming off a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, but helped fans forget about that loss with a convincing win on Tyneside.
Nacer Chadli got the ball rolling for Spurs with a left footed strike from long range, but Jack Colback equalised just moments into the second half.
However, Tottenham did clinch the win, with Christian Eriksen's free kick going all the way in despite being a cross, before Harry Kane made it 3-1 on the break in the dying seconds after Newcastle had pushed everyone forward in search of another equaliser.
The result took Tottenham back above manager Mauricio Pochettino's former club Southampton and into sixth place in the Premier League table, which would give them Europa League qualification - again.
After the final whistle, goalscorer Kane and midfielder Nabil Bentaleb took to Twitter to celebrate the victory - but the big topic of conversation was Kane's goal, which means he has now found the net 30 times for Spurs this season, becoming the first Tottenham striker to achieve that feat since Gary Lineker.
Here is how Kane and Bentaleb reacted on Twitter after Spurs' latest victory...
Wow buzzing to get to 30 goals for the season! Most importantly though was the 3 points.Great team performance!Safe journey home to the fans!— Harry Kane (@hkane28) April 19, 2015
