Tim Sherwood’s Villa got the better of their Premier League rivals 2-1 at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Brazil international playmaker Philippe Coutinho put Liverpool in the lead on the half-hour mark, but Christian Benteke restored parity in the 36th minute and Fabian Delph scored what proved to be the winning goal in the opening minutes of the second half.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher was far from impressed with the performance of the Liverpool players in the FA Cup tie and made the following post on Twitter.
Big games need big players to do big things. Not many of them at Lfc which make wages demands of some ridiculous & the recruitment worse.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) April 19, 2015
Villa deserved to win the tie, as they were the better team and showed more determination.
Over the course of the 90 minutes, the Villans had 50% of the possession, took seven shots of which four were on target, and earned three corners.
Liverpool also had 50% of the possession, but of their 14 shots only three were on target.
