Did Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman ignore the threat of hat-trick hero Rudy Gestede?

Forest drew 3-3 with Blackburn Rovers, with the Benin international scoring all three.

Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers played out a dead rubber in the Championship yesterday, but it was certainly an exciting one.

A late equaliser from Michail Antonio saw the two mid-table teams draw 3-3 at Ewood Park. But did Dougie Freedman make a big error for the game?

The Forest boss waxed lyrical in the press about Jordan Rhodes this week, a player he admitted to trying to bring in on loan last month, as reported by BBC Nottingham Sport.

But while he ensured Forest shackled the threat of Rhodes, did he overlook the other striker?

Rudy Gestede scored all three of Forest's goals in the game. The Benin international smashed home a hat-trick to take his tally for the season to 19 in all competitions.

They were however his first goals in four games and prior to that he had a five game goalless streak. With Freedman putting so much emphasis on the Scot, it seems as though Gestede sneaked under the radar and helped himself to a treble.

The result means Forest have not won in six games and the honeymoon period is certainly over for Freedman. It will be interesting to see what business they do in the summer.
