The Real Madrid man is out of contract in the summer.
A couple of days ago we reported that Sami Khedira was looking for £200,000k a week wherever he ends up this summer. The German World Cup winner is out of contract at Real Madrid this summer and has plenty of teams looking to snap him up.
But today their manager Horst Heldt confirmed today that they have not given up on the signature of the player.
He told Ruhr Nachrichten this week:
"We are still in the race. There have been several discussions. If everything will be fit, you have to wait and see. I know that several teams are trying to commit the employment of Khedira."
Khedira has been linked with a plethora of teams over the past few months, including those in the Premier League.
Of course not many of those teams would want to paying the massive wages that he will reportedly demand.
With that in mind it is not unfair to say that Schalke will never be able to pay him such extravagant wages, so it remains anyone's guess where Khedira will end up this summer.
