Real Madrid fans react on Twitter to Gareth Bale and Luka Modric injuries

The Welsh star lasted just three minutes for Real Madrid, as they faced visiting Malaga, then the Croatian midfielder also limped off injured.

Into the sharp end of the season and with so much at stake, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is unable to risk resting any of his leading stars.

Next week his team face the challenge of beating city rivals Atletico Madrid, in the second-leg of their Champions League quarter-final duel.

Although trailing Barcelona in the race for the title in La Liga, there still remains the possibility that Real Madrid can make up lost ground, if their arch-rivals slip but once in the remaining games.

As such, Ancelotti fielded the strongest eleven he could against Malaga on Saturday, but with Benzema unavailable, the 'BBC' trio was reduced to a two-man partnership between Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

However, just three minutes into the encounter, Gareth Bale went to ground, clutching his left calf. As the Welshman limped off in clear discomfort, Mexican striker Chicharito came on as his replacement.

On the hour and after coming out worse in a challenge with Malaga midfielder, Recio, there was further concern as Luka Modric had to limp off, replaced by Asier Illarramendi.

The positive side of the game for Real Madrid, was a 3-1 victory against Malaga, which puts them back within two points of La Liga leaders, Barcelona.

Clearly concerned by the injury suffered by Bale, especially ahead of next week's crucial match against Atletico Madrid, plus the further blow suffered by Modric to his knee, here's how Real Madrid fans reacted on Twitter...

"Bale can't be injured! What are we going to do on Wednesday ?!!"

"The Champions League game isn't looking at all good... No Marcelo, No Bale & with doubts for Benzema and Modric."
