Ex-Leeds United star Noel Whelan has tweeted a playful message following the withdrawal of six first-team players due to injury.
Former Leeds United player Noel Whelan has taken to Twitter to make a thinly-veiled comment about the six players recently ruled out of this weekend’s match against Charlton Athletic.
In a report published by the Yorkshire Evening Post in the build-up to the Championship encounter, it was claimed that Marco Silvestri, Giuseppe Bellusci, Edgar Cani, Souleymane Doukara, Mirco Antenucci and Dario Del Fabro had all ruled themselves out of the game due to injury.
The report added that while the players trained with Leeds on Thursday, they did not travel to London the following day, leaving manager Neil Redfearn with some big decisions to make regarding his latest team selection.
Following the news, Whelan took to social media to write the following message, which appeared to be directed at the sextet:
“Think I slept badly last night and sprained my finger, not sure if I can commentate today.”
More information regarding the latest injuries may well come out in due course, but it appears some Leeds fans are far from happy, with Leeds currently 15th in the table after enduring a season of very mixed fortunes.
