Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid has taken to social networking site Twitter to urge the fans to give the players their full support on Sunday.
The Magpies are preparing to face Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park amid speculation that the Premier League game will be boycotted by the Newcastle fans.
According to ITV, the Newcastle supporters are not happy with the team’s recent run of form and with club owner Mike Ashley’s reluctance to invest in new players.
Playing in front of no fans will severely dampen the Magpies’ chances of winning the encounter, and 22-year-old Abeid has taken to Twitter to make a plea to the supporters.
Ahead of this weekend’s round of matches in the Premier League, Newcastle find themselves 13th in the league table with 35 points from 32 matches, nine points above the relegation zone.
John Carver’s side have lost their last five Premier League games and are in danger of getting sucked into the relegation dogfight.
