Elland Road

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Leeds United…

Leeds United take on Charlton Athletic at The Valley this weekend with the former's manager Neil Redfearn having some big decisions to make regarding possible selection.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Lewis Cook is out with an ankle injury although fellow midfielder Rudy Austin is available following his recent suspension.

However, the Yorkshire Evening Post has further news, claiming that six other Leeds players have declared themselves unfit to play on Saturday.

The report claims Marco Silvestri, Giuseppe Bellusci, Dario Del Fabro, Mirco Antenucci, Souleymane Doukara and Edgar Cani have all ruled themselves out, with the likely absence of the first two on the list set to have the most impact.

In other news, former Leeds player Peter Swan has been speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post about his time at Elland Road.

Swan made 50 appearances for the Whites before joining Hull City, and he has now admitted that in hindsight he would have loved to have tasted glory with Leeds.

“Do I regret leaving,” Swan said. “Possibly, but that’s gone now and I did the right thing at the time and I’ll stand by that.

“To have had success with Leeds would have been amazing.”

Now he can only watch on as the latest group of Leeds players look to build on their recent achievements.
