The goalkeeper seems to have a genuine injury problem, suffered in a collision with Cameron Jerome.
Leeds United have had another tumultuous time this weekend. Last night it was revealed that six players, Mirco Antenucci, Souleymane Doukara, Giuseppe Bellusci, Dario Del Fabro, Edgar Cani and Marco Silvestri were all out of action for the game with Charlton, after late injury withdrawals.
As no mention of these injuries were made earlier in the week it came as a surprise to many that such a large amount of players from the first-team would suddenly pull out. The fact they are all foreign and mostly bought by Massimo Cellino added to speculation about their late withdrawals.
The one that suprised Leeds fans most however was Silvestri. The goalkeeper has been one of the success stories from Italy at the club. He has been one of the most eye-catching goalkeepers of the Championship season and is a favourite among Leeds fans.
Last night he posted a picture showing the reason he was out of action, a nasty scratch on his back caused by a collision with Cameron Jerome in the game with Norwich City recently.
I didn't have train for 3 days.I had a contrast with jerom at the match, and 4 that I cn't travel bcz I need to do the therapy here. That all— Marco Silvestri (@MarcoSilver1991) April 17, 2015
Now he has gone one further. He retweeted this video posted by a Leeds fan backing the stopper, clearly showing his collision with the Norwich striker.
Whether this will help quell talk of a conspiracy remains to be seen.
