Jamie Redknapp has predicted on Skysports.com that today’s Premier League clash between Chelsea and Manchester United will end in a draw.
The former Liverpool midfielder predicts hosts Chelsea to play a tight game and earn a point from the encounter at Stamford Bridge in London.
“I’m going to go for a draw – and that will suit (Jose) Mourinho fine,” Redknapp wrote on Skysports.com. “He knows defeat, with Arsenal to play next, would open things up a little bit at the top and he can’t afford for that to happen.”
Could Jamie Redknapp’s prediction come true?
While a draw would not be a bad result for Chelsea, perhaps manager Jose Mourinho would like to target a win. After all, there is the small matter of winning the Premier League title to deal with.
Although United are in a good run of form and have an encouraging momentum, the Blues are very strong at home.
Chelsea have shown this season that they can scrap out a win, and if they can nick an early goal, then they could well end up with all the three points.
United have superb attacking prowess and are likely to create chances, which means that Chelsea’s defensive unit will have to stay strong and alert throughout the 90 minutes.
Mourinho’s side simply cannot sit back and defend for the entire match. If they do that, then they will eventually concede.
