Everton notched their fourth win in the last five games with a 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Burnley at Goodison Park.
Currently enjoying a fine run of form, the Toffees made it five games without defeat as Kevin Mirallas' first half goal handed them all three points.
Roberto Martinez's men remain in 12th place in the Premier League table after today's win, but there was some controversy involved.
Everton were handed a first half penalty, but usual taker Leighton Baines didn't step up - instead, it was Ross Barkley, and he saw his spot kick saved by Tom Heaton.
This is the second time such a situation has arisen at Everton this season, with Mirallas also doing the same thing against West Brom earlier this term.
Barkley, 21, burst onto the scene last season but has endured a much poorer second campaign in the Everton first team, struggling to find any sort of form or momentum.
After the controversy at Goodison Park, fans took to Twitter to discuss both his performance and his missed penalty - with varying opinions.
Some fans believed that Barkley's all round display was impressive, but others remain unconvinced by his influence in the team right now.
Here are some of the reactions from Everton fans on Twitter after Barkley's performance against Burnley this afternoon...
Id gladly sell barkley, seems to believe the hype, get rid and give roberto £60+m to spend in the summer. Proper overhaul needed.— Tony (@tony_efc) April 18, 2015
I also fail to see what Barkley currenly offers us by starting— Michael Callaway (@mickcallaway21) April 18, 2015
Do people see something in Barkley that I don't? I don't think he's anywhere near the player people seem to think he is.— Jack Flanagan (@JackFlanagan_97) April 18, 2015
Can I just ask when is it ok to start expecting a few decent performances from the 'potentially' world class Ross Barkley? #EFC— Dan (@BlueDanEFC) April 18, 2015
Barkley's decision making hasn't even improved from last season, too much time on the ball and the opportunities go wasted— ️ (@DanNSNO) April 18, 2015
Barkley didn't put a foot wrong besides the pen. Solid performance from him.— Francis Riozzi (@FrancisRiozzi) April 18, 2015
Pleased with Everton today. Should have won by more but a win is a win. Aaron Lennon and Barkley played really well.— Ian Martin (@cricketonwheels) April 18, 2015
Barkley has improved a lot of late, changed the way he plays for the better. Retaining the ball, playing good passes and putting a tackle in— David (@NothingbutBoffo) April 18, 2015
