At last summer’s World Cup, Klose scored his 16th tournament goal to take him past Ronaldo onto the all-time scoring record, and the ageing German forward does not look like slowing down any time soon.
Having retired from international football at the end of that successful tournament, Klose is enjoying a productive time with Lazio in Serie A, scoring 13 goals in 32 games as the Light Blue and White half of Rome look to guarantee Champions League football with a second placed finish.
Well regarded for his finishing and goal poaching ability, it does not look as if age has got to the former Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen man, and it appears as if he has a number of years of top level football still in him.
This goalscoring has piqued the interest of Premier League duo Spurs and Villa, who are planning summer moves for the forward.
The Guardian report claims that Klose’s contract is up at the end of this season, and the two clubs are preparing to offer the German a way to the Premier League in the summer.
There is also interest from Brazilian side Sao Paulo according to the report, although there is as yet no indication as to where Klose would prefer to play.
Lazio may still have a role to play in the forward’s future, with qualification for Champions League football likely to entice Klose into agreeing a new deal with the Serie A club.
