Newcastle United midfielder Jonas Gutierrez has described Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao as a “great player” on social networking site Twitter.
On Thursday evening, Gutierrez posted the following photo on Twitter.
It seems that Gutierrez and Falcao are good friends, and clearly enjoyed their evening together.
Not many United fans will buy that Falcao is a “great player”, though, as his performances so far this season have been far from impressive.
The AS Monaco-owned Colombia international striker has scored four goals and created 14 chances in 21 Premier League appearances so far this season, while having a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 58%.
Despite his injury problems and fitness issues, Falcao has been a disappointment at Old Trafford, and one suspects that United will not sign the 29-year-old on a permanent deal at the end of the season.
Until his serious knee injury in January of 2014, the former Atletico Madrid striker was without doubt one of the deadliest strikers in Europe.
Things have changed now.
