Nottingham Forest owner defends Freedman on Twitter after winless run

Holloway & Freedman

Fawaz Al-Hasawi has backed his manager on social media.

Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has defended boss Dougie Freedman on Twitter after their side's run of five Championship games without a win.

Freedman was given a new contract only yesterday as reward for his early work in reviving Forest after moving to the City Ground.

The Nottingham Forest boss clearly has his superior's backing, then.

But Al-Hasawi felt the need to send a message to fans and critics alike on social media, asking the Forest faithful to back Freedman - especially now that he is on board at the club long term.

Nottingham Forest built up a strong head of steam when Freedman first joined the Championship side, bringing the club back to form after their sharp demise under previous manager Stuart Pearce.

In their last five league games, though, Forest have not won once, picking up just one point as their season fizzles out due to fatigue, injuries and a number of other factors.

This summer will mark the first test of Freedman's credentials in the long run, as Nottingham Forest look to build ahead of next campaign, when promotion should once again be the ultimate goal.
