Is there renewed hope for Scepovic after Deila's latest comments?

Celtic Parkhead

The Celtic boss has been discussing the 25-year-old striker.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has confirmed to reporters that forward Stefan Scepovic is back in the Bhoys' squad for Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final v Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Scepovic has become somewhat of a forgotten man at Celtic, having lost his place in the starting XI and appearing to be out of favour under Deila.

But the 25-year-old returned to action for the Development Squad against Manchester City on Thursday night, scoring during a penalty shootout the Bhoys eventually lost.

And his manager has now confirmed that Scepovic will return to the matchday squad.

Far from a moderate stage to return to the bench (and maybe even starting line-up) - a big semi-final at Hampden Park.

Deila is limited in terms of options through injuries and suspensions, however, although further comments from the head coach suggest even more hope for Scepovic.

Indeed, after seeing Leigh Griffiths and John Guidetti combine well as a striker partnership during the 4-1 win over Kilmarnock, the Norwegian has hinted it is a system he may use once more:

The implication, of course, would be a Griffiths/Guidetti partnership if anything. But two slots up top instead of one gives Scepovic double the chance of making the team. If he is given any opportunity this weekend, the 25-year-old simply has to grab it with both hands.
