Ex-West Ham midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger believes Jurgen Klopp will head to England

The former Aston Villa man believes West Ham's dream appointment will head to England in the summer.

This week saw Jurgen Klopp announce that he will be stepping down from his role as Borussia Dortmund head coach in the summer.

That has led to plenty of speculation over where he will be heading next, including some rightly ambitious West Ham fans wanting him to rock up in London.

One former West Ham player has now made his views clear on the future of Klopp. Thomas Hitzlsperger spent the 2010-11 season at West Ham, but is of course better known for his time with Aston Villa early in his career.

The 33-year-old, who now works as a pundit, has spoken about the future of Klopp, suggesting that he is likely to head to England this summer:

"Well I just got the impression that he is so popular in England, more popular in England than in Germany.

"He's certainly very charismatic, he's changed Dortmund around in the last seven years.

"He's never made a secret that he wants to be in the Premier League one day. So I wouldn't be surprised.

"He's a tremendous manager, if he wants to be in the Premier League soon, I am sure there will be a club that wants to take him."

West Ham were first linked with a move for Klopp after an opinion piece from the Daily Mail back in March. That has now led many a West Ham fan to dream of the German taking over from the unpopular Sam Allardyce in the summer and hopefully revamp the way West Ham play ahead of the switch to the Olympic Stadium next year.
