Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has revealed to The Sun that manager Tim Sherwood has asked the players to be more direct in their approach.
The Belgium international has recently returned to form and is a rejuvenated figure under former Tottenham Hotspur boss Sherwood.
The 24-year-old scored the winner against North London outfit Tottenham at White Hart Lane in the Premier League last weekend and a hat-trick against Queens Park Rangers at Villa Park earlier this month.
Benteke is happy to be playing under Sherwood and told The Sun: “The new manager has given me a lot of freedom and a lot of responsibility since he came in.
“He said to the other lads to play a bit more direct to me. When a manager says that, you feel more important, more responsible.”
Villa going a bit direct to suit Benteke’s style has certainly helped the team get more points, as the Villans appears to be edging closer to safety.
Benteke, who has struggled with injuries this season, is enjoying his football again and is high on confidence.
Sherwood is a very good man-manager and knows how to get the best out of players, and he has done exactly that with the former Genk star.
